Mamma Mia!, now the highest grossing musical film to open in the U.S. beating out Hairspray, is great for anyone who loves ABBA music, Meryl Streep, Greece, dance, Amanda Seyfried, romantic comedy, Pierce Brosnan, Julie Walters, beautiful scenery, Colin Firth, the beach, Stellan Skarsgard, and islands.
Streep is a force of nature - there's nothing she can't do and it's a treat to see her singing and dancing. I would have paid the price of admission just to see her jumping up and down on the bed!
This production, true to the original stage version, is packed with joy and fun. You just feel everyone in the cast got paid to have the time of their lives.
Well worth seeing and a very uplifting film. Don't leave before the last scene while some of the credits are rolling - the crowd was just about falling off their seats laughing.
